I sent a handwritten article to the GP newspaper Pulse on the off-chance, whilst I was in my training practice. To my surprise it was published, once I was in my new job. With the proceeds I bought a typewriter and started sending a stream of articles, culminating in quite a fruitful freelance relationship. It was very helpful to supplement the rather inadequate salary I got from the practice in Kent I was in!
