Tex
Makins, Wellesbourne, 1982.Tex Makins played bass on a demo I made in Warwickshire. He was a friend of Pete Goodall, the studio's owner, who had worked with the Troggs in their less celebrated period. He heard my stuff in rehearsal and actually volunteered to play on the recordings. Tex himself was the original bass player for Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames, and had a huge amount of session work to his credit. He was also the second person in the UK to own a Fender bass, after Jet Harris. Funnily enough one of my former patients - who never became famous - was the fourth. A prize for anyone who knows who the third was! |
