Minehead, July 1972.

Stuart Mitchell and his friends from Nottingham Uni organised a coffee bar in Minehead in summer 1971, repeated in '72. It turned out to be highly successful, particularly for jaded staff from Butlins.

I remember very late nights, late mornings, and writing and rehearsing material to be performed the same evening. Gordon Harvey, a good songwriter whose material I used a lot, on acoustic; Sarah Ward on vocals here and me on a borrowed Futurama, with the Hendrix-vintage Vox wah-wah I wish I'd kept. Drum stool appears to be unoccupied, but the band Beam varied in personnel from song to song.
