This was my first big gig, a festival organised by Guildford Baptist Church and particularly by John Russell of Regeneration and subsequently lead guitarist of the celebrated After the Fire.

Also on the bill were a young Graham Kendrick, Ishmael and Andy, Pauline Filby and an Ipswich hard rock act, All Things New. Through the latter I got a booking in Ipswich (with Judy Mackenzie) that led on to many others around the country.

Less memorably, the Children of God also got in on the act somehow.

John Russell and I belted out acoustic rock at the follow-up coffee bar in a cellar in Ward Street.
